Vortex-Induced Vibration of Flexible Cylinder in Flow

11/22/2016: Presenting the results of the study at the 69th annual meeting of APS DFD in Portland, Oregon.
One of the first projects I worked on in the FSI Lab was to study the effects of boundary conditions on the VIV of a flexible cylinder placed in flow. I worked with Dr. Banafsheh Seyed-Aghazadeh to design and setup the experiment.
As a freshman, I did not have any experience running experiments and performing data analysis. Dr. Aghazadeh helped and mentored me along the way as I learned to use MATLAB for data analysis and got familiarized with experimental protocols. I presented the results of this study at the American Physical Society, Division of Fluid Dynamics in Portland, Oregon on November 22nd 2016. I also assisted in drafting the manuscript that was published in the Journal of Experiments in Fluids in February of 2019.
